Compound Aircraft for Long Endurance and High Payloads

Since 2012, we have been developing the compound aircraft technology, where multiple aircraft modules are linked at their wing tips to create a formation with an extreme aspect ratio. This system merges the advantages of low induced drag with the capability of transporting heavy payloads. The integrated flight control system allows for safe operation of the individual aircraft modules as well as the coordinated operation of the whole configuration when connected during flight mode.

For application as High-Altitude Platform (HAP), the AlphaLink X model consists of 10 aircraft modules with a total wingspan of 215 meters and a payload of 450 kg. Using solar power only, the operation can be continued yearlong without interruption due to maintenance activities and mission rescheduling performed module-wise.

The compound aircraft has been recognized by media, industry, and civil society.
